Sacramental Preparation Programs

Baptism

Sacramental preparationParents who will soon be celebrating the sacrament of Baptism with their newborn usually attend two or three meetings.  One meeting is to review the meaning of the Sacrament and its significance for them and their child; the other is to help them personally prepare for their participation in the celebration itself.  This preparation process is a wonderful opportunity for parents, sponsors and family to rejoice in the great grace of Baptism and to commit as they renew their own baptismal vows.  If interested, call the parish office at 317-546-1571.

Confirmation

Confirmation is celebrated every two years.  Young people (mostly high school sophomores and juniors) attend preparatory sessions with their catechist.  Group retreats and service hours serve to foster becoming closer followers of Jesus and His Gospel.

Marriage Preparation

Engaged couples are invited to prepare for their marriage vows through a three step process that includes personal and spiritual evaluation of readiness, discernment of freedom and commitment to scriptural values of marriage plus ceremonial preparation.  Couples are asked to initiate this process at least six months prior to the proposed wedding day.  If interested call the parish office at 317-546-1571.

First Reconciliation & First Eucharist

Sacramental preparationStudents are urged to have one year of regular Mass attendance prior to the year of receiving any sacrament.  Children are to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to the reception of First Holy Communion as required in the Catholic Catechism guidelines. Students normally receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist during the second grade.

Adult Preparation

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process that is divided into various periods that respect the individual’s journey of faith.  It is a time for those seeking baptism and full reception into the Catholic Church to learn and experience the workings of the Spirit in this journey.  Parish partners participate in the journey with an individual interested in joining the Catholic Church.  As a parish partner you will be ministering as a spiritual companion and a Catechetical mentor to the RCIA candidates.  If interested, call the parish office at 317-546-1571.
